George, Amal Clooney and twins become French citizens

France has granted citizenship to George Clooney, his wife Amal, and their twins Ella and Alexander, according to a government decree published in the Journal Officiel.

Axar.az, citing AP, reports that Amal Clooney was naturalized under her maiden name, Amal Alamuddin.

The family bought an estate in France in 2021 and now considers it their primary residence.

Clooney has said the move was motivated by a desire to raise their children away from Hollywood and paparazzi culture. He described life in France as calmer and more grounded for the family. It remains unclear whether George Clooney retains his U.S. citizenship. Amal Clooney was born in Lebanon and raised in the U.K., and the twins were born in London.
