Dolphins and fish in the Sea of Azov are being killed en masse by a plague epidemic.
Axar.az reports the statement came from Mariupol Mayor's Adviser Petr Andryushenko in a telegram.
"The epidemic is no longer just a threat, but a reality. Today, the sea is one of the few places of rest for the residents of Mariupol. But, unfortunately, the threat to the environment is great," Andrewshenko said.
According to Dr. Dorit Nitsana, the World Health Organization's incident manager in Ukraine, although the Russians have partially restored Mariupol's water supply, frequent damage to pipes has led to sewage mixing into drinking water. This leads to negative consequences, such as the outbreak of the plague virus at sea.
