Turkiye welcomes steps toward lasting peace between its two South Caucasus neighbors — Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Axar.az, this was stated by Serkan Demirtaş, Ankara correspondent of Hürriyet Daily News.
“Alongside the progress achieved between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Turkiye declares its readiness to advance the normalization process with Yerevan that has been ongoing since 2021.
There are no diplomatic relations between Turkiye and Armenia, and their land borders remain closed. Nevertheless, the development of relations between Pashinyan and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as well as Yerevan’s change of stance on the 1915 events, has given impetus to dialogue between the sides.
Depending on the progress toward a permanent peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, agreements on establishing diplomatic relations and political-economic ties between Turkiye and Armenia will be on the agenda,” the journalist said.
