As part of President Ilham Aliyev’s business visit to the United States, Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov met with Michael Kratsios, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
Axar.az reports that during the meeting, it was emphasized that President Ilham Aliyev's business visit to Washington at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump created a favorable basis for discussing the bilateral relations agenda and developing a strategic partnership. The significance of the joint projects implemented within the framework of mutual interests for the development of the region was noted, and opportunities for realizing the existing potential for expanding economic cooperation through joint initiatives were considered.
During the discussions, Azerbaijan's strategic geographical location, the successful outcomes of reforms implemented to diversify the economy, the development of the non-oil and gas sector, and the favorable business and investment climate were mentioned. It was emphasized that amid global challenges, the digital transformation of the economy and the promotion of knowledge-based sectors are among the main priorities of Azerbaijan's development strategy.
The fundamental role of technological innovations, scientific advancements, and artificial intelligence in economic transformation was highlighted. Ongoing efforts to turn Azerbaijan into a strategic center for knowledge and innovation in the region, as well as the potential for cooperation between the two countries in this field, were also discussed.
