A fire in the village of Novoilinka in Russia’s Tomsk region has destroyed 16 residential buildings.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that investigators have launched a procedural inquiry into the incident under negligence charges.

The fire occurred on May 2, 2026. Authorities said weather conditions contributed to the rapid spread of the flames.

No casualties have been reported so far.

As part of the investigation, officials will assess the actions or inaction of those responsible for fire prevention and emergency response during a declared high fire-risk period.

The causes and circumstances of the incident are still being established.
