Fidan, Rubio hold call on regional developments

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a phone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, focusing on recent regional developments and the missile that was launched toward Turkish airspace and subsequently neutralized.

Axar.az reports according to Turkish Foreign Ministry sources, the two officials reviewed the latest situation in the region and addressed the intercepted missile incident.

In a separate statement, the U.S. State Department confirmed that Rubio and Fidan discussed recent developments related to Iran and the broader Middle East. Rubio described attacks targeting Turkiye’s sovereign territory as “unacceptable” and reaffirmed Washington’s full support.

Previously, Turkiye’s Ministry of National Defense announced that a ballistic missile fired from Iran and detected heading toward Turkish airspace was intercepted and neutralized by NATO air and missile defense assets deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean.
