As previously rеported, today President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev held a meeting of the Security Council regarding the drone (UAV) attack on Nakhchivan from Iran.

Axar.az reports, in his speech, Aliyev called Iran’s action a terrorist attack and strongly condemned the attack on Nakhchivan International Airport, its terminal building, a school, and other locations by Iran.

The president also recalled that last year, media outlets controlled by Iranian state institutions ran a malicious disinformation campaign against Azerbaijan aimed at discrediting the country and influencing the views of Azerbaijanis living in Iran:

“Because they know very well that today the independent Azerbaijani state is also a source of hope for many Azerbaijanis living in Iran.”

President Ilham Aliyev’s strong reaction to Iran’s actions has caused significant resonance in Southern Azerbaijan.

Southern political and cultural activists welcomed Aliyev’s statement with great enthusiasm and admiration, expressing their pride in Azerbaijan and its leader.
