The evacuation of foreign nationals from Iran via the Astara border crossing continues.

Axar.az reports that between 09:00 and 14:00 today, one Chinese citizen and five Azerbaijani citizens safely entered Azerbaijan.

The process is being carried out in line with established procedures and security protocols, with all necessary measures in place to ensure a smooth and safe passage.

Evacuations are being conducted in stages throughout the day.

These operations follow the military actions launched by the U.S. and Israel in Iran on February 28, which resulted in the deaths of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several high-ranking officials. In response, Iran has targeted locations associated with U.S., Israeli, and allied military bases across Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Iraq, and Cyprus.

Consequently, Azerbaijan is serving as a transit route for the evacuation of foreign nationals from Iran.
