Putin: Armenia can’t join EU and EAEU simultaneously

Armenia is having discussions about developing relations with the European Union, We approach this completely calmly.

Axar.az reports that Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, said: "we understand that every country tries to gain the maximum benefits from cooperation with third countries."

Putin noted that it is not possible for Armenia to be in both the EU and the Eurasian Economic Union at the same time:

“Being in a customs union with both the EU and the EAEU is impossible. It is simply not feasible in essence. The issue is not political; the issue is purely economic.”
