Bayramov: Azerbaijan awaits Armenia’s new constitution

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that the decisions and messages adopted at the historic Washington Summit are remembered by everyone.

Axar.az reports, citing АРА, that the minister said that important steps have been taken within the framework of the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process.

“The holding of meetings between state officials and representatives of civil society is a clear example of this. The Joint Declaration adopted in Washington also states that a new Constitution must be adopted in Armenia for the process to be completed. The timing of this is Armenia’s internal process. Following the elections, the Armenian Prime Minister gave messages that the text of the Constitution would be made public by the end of the year,” the Foreign Minister emphasized.

The minister noted that the Azerbaijani side is monitoring the process and official Baku’s position remains unchanged.

“For the process to be fully completed and the final signatures to be placed on the peace agreement, naturally, we will wait for this process,” Jeyhun Bayramov added.
