US President Donald Trump has shared an interview given by Azerbaijani presidential aide and head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev to Newsmax.

Axar.az reports that Trump posted Hajiyev’s interview on his Truth Social account under the headline: “Azerbaijan's Hajiyev to Newsmax: Trump Peacemaker, Iran Deal Possible.”

Hajiyev spoke in the September 14 interview about Trump’s role in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

“President Trump and his arrival to this office completely changed United States and Azerbaijan's cooperation and partnership. And the most important thing: the peace. And he delivered the peace to the region of the South Caucasus,” Hajiyev said.

He described the August 8, 2025 meeting at the White House involving Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Trump as a “historical moment.”

“President Trump's leadership . . . brought his political weight into this process and brought Armenia and Azerbaijan into that ultimate peace,” Hajiyev said.

Hajiyev also emphasized Trump’s contribution to establishing a new stage in the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the United States.

"President Trump and President Ilham Aliyev have offered a new era in the United States and Azerbaijan strategic partnership, and they agreed that we will chart a new memorandum on the strategic partnership between the United States and Azerbaijan," Hajiyev stated.

He noted that the United States fulfilled its promise when Vice President JD Vance visited Azerbaijan and signed a strategic partnership document.

"United States and Azerbaijan strategic friendship and strategic cooperation and partnership is on a strong foundation," Hajiyev said. "It will continue to grow."

"In this geopolitical strategic area," he added, "Azerbaijan remains a reliable and trustful partner of the United States."
