Until now, there was no border line between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Axar.az reports that the statement came from Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in an interview with Anadolu Agency.
The Foreign Minister assessed the tension at the border:
"The reason is occupation. As our lands have been under occupation for 30 years, they could not control the borders of Azerbaijan. Last year, with a 44-day war, we restored our territorial integrity and secured control of the 398.7-kilometer border with Armenia.
There are differences of opinion between the parties on the border issue. Because in the Soviet era, there were only governing borders. There are maps on the sides, and these maps show differences in some places.
This is our approach. Action groups should be formed between the parties, experts should analyze the maps and determine the border line.
"Azerbaijan is acting responsibly and doing its best to avoid further tensions on the border."
