Azerbaijani Masoud Pezeshkian, who is one of the 6 candidates out of 80 candidates approved by the Constitutional Council, who nominated for the uncalled presidential elections in Iran, is considered to have a more positive image compared to other government representatives and politicians who are candidates for the presidency.

Axar.az reports that M. Pezeshkian was born on September 29, 1954 in the city of Savojbolagh (Mahabad), West Azerbaijan Province.

He attended high school in his hometown, then studied food industry at Urmia Agricultural College.

In 1973, the Azerbaijani politician, who served in the military service in Sistan and Baluchistan province, started his education again in the field of experimental sciences in 1975. In 1976, he entered Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. After graduating from general medicine in 1985, he taught as a physiology teacher at the Medical University.

In 1990, he completed the specialty of general surgery at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. In 1993, after receiving a high qualification in heart surgery at Iran University of Medical Sciences, he started working at Shahid Madani Heart Hospital of Tabriz, and then became the head of that hospital.

During the presidency of Mohammad Khatami, he worked as the deputy minister of health, minister of health.

Masoud Pezeshkian won the 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th parliamentary elections of Iran, and became a deputy of Tabriz, Tufargan (Azershahr) and Usku.

The Azerbaijani politician served as a member, head and first deputy speaker of the Health Commission of the Iranian Parliament at different times.

Masud Pezeshkian, who registered for the presidential elections in 2013 and 2021, withdrew his candidacy at the last moment.

M. Pezeshkian is married, has 4 children, although his wife died 19 years ago, he never married again.

The deputy in the Iranian parliament of Tabriz, who belongs to the reformist political movement, is also influential among the members of the conservative political movement. Although he was represented in the government for many years and held high positions, his name was not mentioned in acts of repression and corruption.

Masoud Pezeshkian is one of the few, perhaps the only, politicians who are appreciated among non-Persians living in Iran, especially Azerbaijanis, for his speech and demands in the field of national law and mother tongue. Therefore, from the moment of his candidacy, he became the target of radical Persian nationalists and was accused of supporting separatism and pan-Turkism.

Despite being represented in the government, the Azerbaijani politician is also known as the person who criticizes the government the most. He says that the government's foreign and international policies are wrong, as well as domestic policy, and demands a review of relations with neighbors, especially the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Due to the occupation of Karabakh and his fair position during the Second Karabakh War, he faced pressure from some radical Persian nationalists and trends. Movements and organizations opposed to the government associate the approval of Pezeshkia's candidacy with the possibility of the current regime to use the influence of the Azerbaijani politician to attract citizens to the elections.

According to many experts, Masoud Pezeshkian, who is an extremely logical and mature politician, is the most ideal choice for the exit of the Tehran regime in the current difficult period.
