There is a fear in the Armenian government and society that if a peace or framework agreement is not signed with Azerbaijan by November, a new war will start after the COP-29 in Baku.

Axar.az reports that these words were noted by political scientist Elkhan Sahinoglu.

According to him, Armenian politicians and experts from Western Persia suggest to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that by November, Yerevan should address an official request to Brussels regarding EU membership:

"Otherwise, Russia and the Collective Security Treaty Organization will not want to protect Armenia, and this will lead to a loss of territory.

The "logic" behind this proposal is that the European Union will be able to do what Russia cannot do, and Brussels will prevent the Azerbaijani army from strengthening in new positions.

How the European Union will do this is interesting. The second side of the issue is that Azerbaijan has no plan to intervene in Armenia either before or after November, and we are involved in construction works in the territories freed from occupation. Apart from that, the strategic heights on the conventional border are under our control, we don't need more than that. Another issue is that if the soldiers of the "5th column" of the Armenian army, which Pashinyan cannot fully control, fire again on the Azerbaijani side, it will have serious consequences for them, and in this case, the other side may really face a loss of territory.

If Nikol Pashinyan and his entourage are so afraid of the threat of war and another defeat after COP-29, there is a simple way. Pashinyan should implement the changes he promised to the Constitution, at least he should remove the clauses claiming neighboring territories from the basic law through a referendum. This will eliminate the possibility of war before and after November. Provided that Pashinyan cleans his army of subversive elements. Because even the peace agreement may not stop provocateurs in the Armenian army from firing at the positions of Azerbaijan."
