Iran's "Tahlil Bazaar" website has attempted to smear Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Azerbaijan.
Axar.az informs that this was reported by the "Azad Iran" Telegram channel.
The site called Putin's visit to Azerbaijan controversial, noting that it signals the potential formation of a tripartite agreement between Russia, Turkiye, and Azerbaijan in the field of exporting Russian gas to Europe.
The article mentions that if the Kremlin agrees to and supports the opening of the Zangezur corridor, Russia, which is facing severe sanctions, will be able to easily transfer its gas to the West through two countries—Azerbaijan and Turkiye.
"Iran has repeatedly stated its opposition to the creation of this corridor and any other circumstances leading to geopolitical changes. On the other hand, the extent to which Armenia will oppose the creation of the Zangezur corridor in the future is a key point. Will Tehran's position on the 'controversial' Zangezur corridor change?"
At the same time, the "Fararu" website also reported that the spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated that Russia's position on the Zangezur corridor, which would connect Azerbaijan with Nakhchivan, is firm.
It was noted that after the statements of the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Russia's ambassador in Tehran was summoned to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, where Iran's position against changing the region's geopolitics was reiterated, and it was stated that Tehran opposes the alteration of internationally recognized borders.
