Opposition condemns Ivanishvili's apology for 2008 war

The statement by Georgian Dream leader Bidzina Ivanishvili apologizing to Tskhinvali for the August 2008 war is a disgrace.

Axar.az reports that this was stated in a declaration by Georgia's opposition United National Movement Party.

"With this statement, Georgian Dream only serves Russia's interests, dealing a blow to the policy of non-recognition of the occupied territories and Georgia's national interests," the statement said.

The party has demanded an apology from Ivanishvili for this:

"He and Georgian Dream must apologize to the Georgian people for this treacherous statement and for 12 years of impoverishment, depopulation of the country, the birth rate dropping to a historic low, and Georgia falling into international isolation."
