The deployment of North Korean troops in Russia and their preparation to be sent to the Ukrainian front will take the war to a different level. Although Western leaders and NATO’s Secretary-General are making strong statements to deter the Kremlin from this move, they know that this will likely not yield results. The Kremlin will not abandon its plans.
Axar.az reports that political analyst Elkhan Shahinoglu stated these words.
"Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that North Korean troops have not yet entered combat but emphasized, ‘this is a matter of days, not months.’ He said: ‘North Korean soldiers are in Kursk, preparing to fight against Ukraine. This is now a war of two countries against one.’ The Ukrainian president also pointed out that Russia is openly partnering with North Korea and has obtained approximately 3.5 million artillery shells. Zelensky has called on Western countries to increase their support for Ukraine.
Zelensky, alluding to China’s silence on the situation, stated that "China’s silence as a guarantor of regional security is surprising." He added, "I cannot say China is on our side, but as a regional power, China should not be interested in the expansion of the Russia-Ukraine war. Japan and South Korea, as civilized nations in Asia, have expressed their concerns over North Korea sending troops to Russia and issued statements, yet China remains silent."
China has close relations with North Korea. When North Korea faces food shortages, it turns first to its neighbor China. Russia’s recent efforts to strengthen its ties with North Korea cannot leave Beijing unconcerned. North Korea sending troops to Russia also does not align with China’s interests. However, Beijing cannot openly oppose this, as it does not want to jeopardize its partnership with Russia," Shahinoglu emphasized.
