Greece is ready to support the expansion of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP).

Axar.az reports that Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis made this statement during the official opening ceremony of the Greek pavilion at COP29 in Baku.

"When I was appointed Prime Minister in 2019, I made a strategic commitment to ensure regional energy security. At the end of 2020, we opened the TAP, which transports gas from Azerbaijan to Greece, Italy, Bulgaria, and Southeast Europe," the Prime Minister stated.

According to him, Greece is ready to support the expansion of TAP if necessary:

"We are also looking to the future, knowing that today's gas infrastructure could evolve into hydrogen infrastructure at some point. We must lay the foundation for such a transition. But I think we should also remember and pay attention to another aspect of the Vertical Gas Corridor. I am referring to electricity."
