A man carrying explosives died on Wednesday while attempting to enter Brazil's Supreme Court in what authorities believe was a suicide.
Axar.az reports that "The individual approached the Federal Supreme Court, attempted entry, was denied, and the explosion occurred at the entrance," stated Brasília Governor Celina Leão.
The first explosion occurred from a car parked in the square outside Brazil’s Supreme Court. A second blast followed when the man attempted to enter the court, leading to his death, according to Governor Celina Leão.
The court is located in Praça dos Três Poderes (“The Place of the Three Powers”), which also fronts the presidential palace and Congress.
It should be noted that the explosions took place just days before the G20 summit, set to be held in Rio de Janeiro next Monday and Tuesday, where global leaders are expected to gather.
