The UN General Assembly has voted in favor of the resolution titled "Combating glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to fuelling contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance".

Axar.az reports that 119 countries supported the document, 53 countries voted against it, and 10 countries abstained.

Among those who voted against the resolution were Germany, Italy, Canada, the USA, Ukraine, and Japan. Azerbaijan, Algeria, Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, China, Cuba, and Serbia spoke in favor of the resolution. The author of the resolution is Russia, with Belarus and Turkmenistan as co-authors. Traditionally presented by Russia and adopted since 2005, the document consists of 74 points.

These include sharp condemnation of the glorification and promotion of Nazism, support for efforts to preserve historical truth, recommendations for actions to prevent the denial of crimes against humanity, and provisions for revisiting the history and consequences of World War II.

The draft resolution also strongly condemns the use of educational materials and rhetoric that promote racism, discrimination, hatred, and violence based on ethnicity, nationality, religion, or ideology.
