Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, has addressed a condolence letter to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ali Asadov.

Axar.az presents the letter:

“I received with deep sorrow the tragic news of the death of passengers and crew members of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane flying from Baku to Grozny on December 25. On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Croatia and personally, I extend my heartfelt condolences to You, the families of the victims, and all those affected by this tragedy. We also wish a speedy recovery to those injured.”

On December 25, an AZAL plane operating the Baku-Grozny flight was struck by Russian air defense systems over the Grozny airspace and sustained significant damage. As it was denied permission to land, the plane headed toward Aktau but crashed near Aktau Airport. As a result of the crash, 38 out of 67 people onboard lost their lives, while 29 survived.
