Azerbaijani MPs to visit New York

Members of Parliament Soltan Mammadov and Sevil Mikhayilova will visit New York, USA, on February 10 to attend the meetings of the Organizational Committees of the 6th World Conference of Parliament Speakers and the 15th Summit of Women Parliament Speakers, as well as the parliamentary hearings at the UN.

Axar.az reports that this information was provided by the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis.

It was stated that at the meeting of the Organizational Committee of the 6th World Conference of Parliament Speakers, the report of the previous session will be approved, and the agenda, program, and the draft declaration for the conference will be discussed.

At the meeting of the Organizational Committee of the 15th Summit of Women Parliament Speakers, the report of the second session held last year will be approved, organizational matters of the Summit will be reviewed, and its preliminary program, including the topics to be focused on, will be agreed upon.

During the visit, the MPs will also participate in the parliamentary hearings on "Scaling up action for the Sustainable Development Goals: Finance, Institutions, and Politics" at the UN Headquarters, organized jointly by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the President of the UN General Assembly.

IPU President Tulia Ackson and UNGA President Philemon Yang will host some 300 participants, including parliamentarians, Speakers of Parliament, advisers and experts, from more than 60 countries at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, United States of America, on 13 and 14 February 2025.

The hearing will take an in-depth look at ways to reboot the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to turbocharge its 17 SDGs, designed to fight poverty, reduce inequality and reset the planet on a more sustainable path.

The MPs' visit to New York will conclude on February 16.
