President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the pharmaceutical production enterprise of “Scandens Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd” LLC in the Hokmali settlement of Absheron region.

Axar.az reports that Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov and General Director Kamran Hasanov informed the head of state about the enterprise.

The enterprise, designed in accordance with international standards, is equipped with advanced technologies and equipment from Germany, Switzerland and Italy. During the year, the enterprise will produce approximately 800 million tablets and capsules of medicines related to antibiotics, diabetology, hepatology, cardiology, andrology, allergology and gastroenterology. The manufactured products will be supplied to both the domestic market and exported in the future. 120 jobs have been created at the enterprise.

The project, worth 74 million manats, was implemented at the expense of private investment. The company received a 6.5 million manat discount for imported equipment under the investment promotion document issued by the Ministry of Economy.

The start of operations of the enterprise is considered a new stage of development in the pharmaceutical industry of Azerbaijan. All stages of pharmaceutical production, from raw materials to finished products, will be carried out here. The new enterprise will contribute to the development of the pharmaceutical industry in our country and the strengthening of local production. The production of competitive products that meet local and international requirements will also expand our country's export opportunities.

The enterprise will also play a role as a base for the training of professional personnel in the pharmaceutical field and the development of practical skills. Within the framework of the quadrilateral Memorandum signed between "Scandens Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd" LLC, Azerbaijan Medical University, the University of Pecs in Hungary and "Panon Pharma", it is planned to implement short and long-term training and internship programs for pharmacists and non-pharmacists.

710 solar panels with a total capacity of 450 kW/h have been installed on the roof of the enterprise, and approximately 40 percent of energy consumption will be covered by these panels.
