Azerbaijan's first ambassador to Georgia passes away

Prominent Azerbaijani oil scientist, diplomat and poet Hajan Hajisoy has died at the age of 80.

Axar.az reports, citing АPA, that Hajisoy's family said he died after a long illness.

Hajisoy's 80th birthday was marked only recently.

Throughout his career, Hajisoy worked in science, diplomacy and literature. He authored several poetry collections as well as numerous academic and literary works.

He served as Azerbaijan's first ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Georgia from 1996 to 2004. In recent years, he continued his academic and research work at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University.

Numerous books documenting his scientific, literary and diplomatic contributions have been published.
