Firefighter killed in Armenia-Azerbaijan border blaze

Fires have been burning in open fields and forests in the border regions of Armenia with Azerbaijan for several days.

Axar.az reports that one firefighter died today and four people were injured when a fire truck involved in extinguishing the fire overturned. The injured have been hospitalized.

The latest information states that fires have been completely extinguished in the Shirak region, on the Chambarek-Goturbulag highway in Goycha, in the Verin Hand settlement of Zangezur, and in the direction of Dilijan in the Tavush region. The fire is limited to the territory of the Navur community of the Tavush region.

Firefighting operations are continuing in the vicinity of Dilijan. Mainly, grass and vegetation are burning, and the heat has damaged trees.
