Kazakhstan awaits lab results before AZAL crash report

Kazakhstan is awaiting the results of analyses from two foreign laboratories, after which it will publish the final report on the AZAL plane crash near Aktau, the country’s Ministry of Transport said.

Axar.az informs according to ICAO regulations, the final report on an air-crash investigation must be published within 12 months of the incident.

The AZAL aircraft, operating a Baku–Grozny flight, crashed on December 25, 2024. The plane was hit by air-defense systems while flying over Russian territory, after which the crew decided to attempt an emergency landing in Aktau, Kazakhstan. However, the aircraft crashed near the city.

The crash claimed the lives of 38 passengers and crew members, while another 29 people were injured.
