Today, Azerbaijan celebrates the third anniversary of the Great Victory in Karabakh - Victory Day.
Axar.az reports that Victory Day was established on December 3, 2020, by the decree signed by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Ilham Aliyev.
In response to Armenia's provocation and further military aggression, the Azerbaijani Army started the Patriotic War on September 27 of last year in order to free our lands from occupation, force Armenia to peace, fulfill the requirements of the UN Security Council resolutions, return the internally displaced persons to their native lands, and restore justice. All the people of Azerbaijan mobilized and united for this holy act.
During the 44-day fighting, the Valiant Azerbaijan Army liberated 5 cities, 4 settlements, and 286 villages from occupation. Thus, Jabrayil city and 90 villages of the district, Fuzuli city and 53 villages of the district, Zangilan city, Minjivan, Aghband, Bartaz settlements and 52 villages of the district, Hadrut settlement and 35 villages of Khojavend district, 3 villages of Tartar district, Gubadli city and 41 villages of the district. , 9 villages of Khojaly region, Shusha city, 3 villages of Lachin region, as well as several strategic heights in the direction of Aghdara and Murovdag, and Bartaz, Sighirt, Shukurataz heights and 5 more unnamed heights in Zangilan were cleared from the enemy.
Brave Azerbaijani soldiers and officers advanced step by step and broke through the engineering and fortification systems built by Armenia for many years, our lands were liberated at the cost of the blood and lives of our heroic soldiers and officers, our martyrs.
