The Ministry of Digital Development and Transport (DDT) has commented on the "Requirements for technical indicators, internal and external design of vehicles used in regular and taxi passenger transport" approved by the Cabinet of Ministers today.

Axar.az reports that according to the Ministry's statement requirements, those who have applied electronically within 3 months for vehicles that are not more than 15 years old from the date of issue and have received the relevant permits can continue their taxi activities. Also inside the taxi passenger car should be:

- an information board displaying information about the driver and the carrier;

– a taximeter (together with a fare information board) or a mobile device with software that performs the functions of a taximeter;

– POS-terminal for cashless payment of the fare.

Taxi passenger cars must be equipped with an ABS brake system, normal interior lighting system, full air conditioner (with cooling and heating function), and seat belts for the driver and all passengers.

Thus, the requirements imposed on vehicles currently used as taxis were still present in the legislation.

The new requirement is to have video cameras equipped with a memory device that covers the entire interior of the taxi and can store the recorded data for at least 1 month.

Taxi drivers must undergo special training on ethical behavior and regulatory legal acts that regulate passenger transportation by car. Those who complete the training receive a certificate.

The Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) is asking people who are currently engaged in taxi activity and who want to continue this activity to get a license and a license card as soon as possible.

After July 1, 2024, vehicles older than 8 years from the date of issue will not be issued a license. Also, to get a license, taxi passenger cars must meet at least the "euro-5" environmental standard. The colors of taxis are defined as white or red.

The requirement for taxis to be white or red only applies to vehicles imported into the country for passenger transportation after July 1, 2024.
