Today is Teachers' Day.

Axar.az reports that October 5th is celebrated as Teachers' Day in Azerbaijan.

On this day in 1966, the first international document determining the conditions of teachers' professional activities, titled "The Status of Teachers," was signed at a conference jointly organized by UNESCO and the International Labour Organization.

Since 1994, UNESCO has recognized this date as World Teachers' Day. It is also included in the United Nations' system of international and world days. The purpose of celebrating this day is to focus on the role of teachers in society, education, and development.

"Teachers' Day" is currently celebrated globally in over 100 countries, and in some countries, it is marked on different dates at the national level.

In Azerbaijan, this day has been celebrated since 1993.
