At the COP29 summit held in Baku, the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, voiced proposals for global action to combat climate change.
Axar.az reports that, according to the head of state, these and other directions require international efforts.
"It should be in action, not in words. It's time to move from words to action. Those who have to pay should pay, not sit in their offices," the Belarusian leader said.
The president said that the climate has changed and this is already an objective reality. "Therefore, the main task is the reconstruction of national economies, first of all, agriculture, taking into account the changed conditions, adapting them to new conditions," he said.
Alexander Lukashenko stressed that Belarus is active in this matter and is ready to share its experience.
The head of state called on developing countries to help them get equal access to green technologies without harming their national interests: "To make sure that they don't get enslaved as a result of this help. Anything that hinders international trade in technology, innovation and exchange of best practices must be abolished."
According to Alexander Lukashenko, the world has already faced a situation where new ecologically clean alternative products do no less damage. "Objectively, we need new approaches to comprehensively assess the potential impact of a certain product of innovation on the environment throughout its life cycle," he stressed.
