Kazakhstan to release preliminary report on AZAL crash

The Ministry of Transport and Communication of Kazakhstan has confirmed that the "black boxes" of the AZAL passenger plane that crashed near Aktau are in the country.

Axar.az reports this information based on the Ministry's press service.

“The data decoded from the black boxes brought from Brazil to Kazakhstan are also being examined by the experts of the investigation commission,” the ministry stated.

It was added that after a detailed review of all materials and facts, the commission will publish a preliminary report on the investigation's progress.

Notably, on December 25, an AZAL plane operating the Baku-Grozny flight was severely damaged after being struck by Russian air defense systems in Grozny's airspace. Denied permission to land, the plane headed to Aktau but crashed near Aktau Airport. Of the 67 people on board, 38 died, and 29 survived.
