The first congress of the International Decolonization Front, which includes the territories that were once French colonies, was held in Kanaki (New Caledonia) on January 23-24.

Axar.az reports that the congress was attended by parliamentarians, leaders of political parties, heads of non-governmental organizations, leaders of public movements, and others fighting for the independence of New Caledonia, French Polynesia, Martinique, Guadeloupe, French Guiana, and Corsica.

Because the representatives of the Baku Initiative Group were not issued visas to participate in the Congress, the organization participated in the work of the said Congress online. In this regard, the head of the BIG, Abbas Abbasov, spoke at the congress in video format.

He recalled that the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Mr. Ilham Aliyev, openly condemned the crimes committed against the Kanak people and expressed his support for the regions under colonization.

The Kanak people raised the Azerbaijani flag again in the capital city of Noumea as a sign of gratitude.

It should be noted that the International Decolonization Front was established in Baku in July 2024 by representatives of the last French colonies with the support of the Baku Initiative Group.
