Today - February 2 is Azerbaijan Youth Day.

Axar.az reports that according to the Decree signed by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev on February 2, 1997, today was declared Azerbaijan Youth Day.

Since then, this day has been solemnly celebrated in Azerbaijan for the first time in the CIS and Eastern European countries.

Long after the establishment of Youth Day in Azerbaijan - on the recommendation of the World Conference of Ministers on Youth Affairs on August 8-12, 1998, August 12 was declared International Youth Day by the resolution of the UN General Assembly dated December 17, 1999.

To successfully implement state policy in the youth field, the great leader Heydar Aliyev took another step that will be an example to the whole world - he ensured the formation of the necessary legislative framework in this area. The social, economic, etc. Decrees and orders, state programs aimed at solving the problems of the youth, and helping them develop their abilities can be an example of this.

Heydar Aliyev's trust in youth and young people is already being confirmed today. Today, youth policy in Azerbaijan is experiencing a new stage in essence and quality. President Ilham Aliyev confirms the national leader's commitment to youth policy with his decisions. The work done towards the spiritual development of the country's youth, patriotic education, education in foreign countries, solving the problems of those in need of social protection, and the conditions and opportunities created for the formation and development of youth organizations are clear evidence of the head of state's great attention to this area. For example, the "State Program for the Education of Azerbaijani Youth Abroad in 2007-2015", approved by the Decree of the President of Azerbaijan dated April 16, 2007, has created comprehensive opportunities for young people from all walks of life to study abroad. It is within the framework of this program that thousands of young people study at the most prestigious universities in the world.

"Azerbaijani youth are active, patriotic, knowledgeable, and educated. Youth, I believe and trust you," said President Ilham Aliyev, emphasizing the importance of ensuring youth employment.

The State Program "Azerbaijani Youth in 2011-2015", approved by the Decree of the Head of State dated July 7, 2011, and the establishment of the Youth Fund by the Decree dated December 19, 2011, demonstrate the commitment of the youth policy founded by the national leader to scientific and theoretical foundations.

On January 26, 2015, the Decree on the approval of the “Development Strategy of Azerbaijani Youth in 2015-2025” and the Decree on the approval of the State Program “Azerbaijani Youth in 2017-2021” are aimed at achieving more effective implementation of youth policy, creating conditions for their active participation in all spheres of society, and increasing attention to the issues of education and employment of this social stratum.

As clear proof of the further increase in patriotic feelings among young people as a result of the successful policy implemented under the leadership of Head of State Ilham Aliyev, the determination of young people to fight for the freedom of the occupied lands from the first day of the Patriotic War can be cited. It should be noted that in July 2020, after the provocation committed by Armenia in Tovuz, tens of thousands of young people voluntarily registered with the departments and offices of the State Service for Mobilization and Conscription.

During the Patriotic War that began shortly after, we witnessed how important the youth's devotion to the state and the Motherland was. The significant increase in the number of young people who wanted to voluntarily participate in the Patriotic War, and the announcement of partial mobilization by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief were clear examples of the youth's support for the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.

As a logical result of all this, the Azerbaijani youth particularly distinguished themselves in achieving a brilliant victory over the enemy in the 44-day war.

The projects implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation under the leadership of First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva to reveal the talents and skills of young people are a reliable guarantee of the future of the growing generation. The successful implementation of the policy in this area in our country has created wide opportunities for young people to use their knowledge and skills in all spheres of life. All necessary measures taken to solve the problems of the young generation and ensure their participation in society as a worthy class direct the Azerbaijani youth to a bright future.
