During a hearing at the Baku Military Court on April 21, Armenian national Arkadi Ghukasyan answered questions regarding the Khojaly genocide, committed on the night of February 25-26, 1992, involving the systematic killing of innocent civilians solely for being Azerbaijani.
Axar.az reports that he claimed to have first received information about the events in Khojaly in February 1992 through "official reports."
"At that time, we didn't know the scale of the tragedy. We knew that hundreds of Azerbaijanis brought from Khojaly were in Khankendi. They were later handed over to the opposing side."
Ghukasyan also condemned the killing of civilians: “It is unacceptable. This is one of the bloodiest chapters of the war.”
It should be noted that the trial of citizens of the Republic of Armenia, who are accused of committing crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, including preparing and waging an aggressive war, genocide, violations of the laws and customs of war, as well as terrorism, financing of terrorism, seizing power by force, unlawfully retaining it, and other numerous offences, continues.
