The second day of the international conference themed “Islamophobia in Focus: Unveiling Bias, Shattering Stigmas” has started in Baku.

Axar.az reports the event organized by the Baku International Multiculturalism Center and the Center for Analysis of International Relations is dedicated to the third anniversary of the International Day to Combat Islamophobia.

The conference has brought together experts, academics, and government officials to examine the global, historical, and political factors behind Islamophobia.

It should be noted that over the past two years, the Baku International Multiculturalism Center and the Center for Analysis of International Relations have consistently organized international conferences on Islamophobia in cooperation with the G20 Interfaith Forum. The goal of these conferences has been to contribute to efforts to combat all forms and manifestations of Islamophobia.

As part of the conferences, participants discussed various aspects of combating Islamophobia, including the importance of an intersectional approach, both historical and contemporary perspectives, the promotion of joint cooperation, and the role of international organizations in the fight. They also held discussions on promoting religious diversity and fostering interfaith respect.

It should be noted that March 15 was first declared as the International Day to Combat Islamophobia during the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held in Niamey, Niger on November 27–28, 2020. The UN General Assembly officially recognized March 15 as the International Day to Combat Islamophobia in 2022.
