META (Facebook, Instagram) has published its “Adversarial Threat Report” for the first quarter of 2025.
Axar.az informs, citing APА, the report states that profiles and pages created and coordinated in Iran were identified and subsequently removed by the company. These included 17 Facebook accounts, 22 Facebook pages, and 21 Instagram accounts — a total of 60.
The report notes that these pages operated in the Azerbaijani language and targeted audiences in Azerbaijan and Turkiye.
META also investigated their activities on other social media platforms before deleting them.
It was revealed that these pages used fake followers to boost their presence and wrote numerous comments to make their posts appear more active.
According to information obtained by APА, more than 20 profiles that were particularly active during the Iranian President’s visit to Azerbaijan — and which posted similar comments — were also identified. A complaint regarding these profiles had been submitted to META through the Electronic Security Service under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Although the report does not name the deleted accounts, it was determined that they were removed based on the complaint from the Electronic Security Service.
Regular monitoring related to such activities is ongoing, and in the past month alone, four major news pages operated from both Iran and Russia that targeted Azerbaijan have also been successfully removed.
