President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev addressed the participants of the international conference on the theme “New World Order: Geopolitical Aspects and Global Challenges”.

Dear conference participants!

I sincerely welcome you to the international conference held in Shusha on the theme "New World Order: Geopolitical Aspects and Global Challenges".

In the modern era, extremely complex geopolitical events are taking place in the world. Against the backdrop of the emergence of numerous threats to national, regional and global security and the fact that countries are facing various political, military, economic, cultural, humanitarian and environmental challenges, the emergence of new power centers in the system of international relations and the process of transition to a new world order are being observed. In such circumstances, the protection of state interests, the independence and sovereignty of countries, the unification of efforts for the sake of peace, stability, cooperation, and multilateral development are of exceptional importance.

Despite four resolutions of the UN Security Council demanding the complete, immediate, and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian armed forces, Azerbaijan, which had been under occupation for nearly 30 years, faced double standards, biased and unfair treatment. As a result of the 44-day Patriotic War and a 1-day anti-terrorist operation, our country has fully restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty with its strength. Thus, the victorious and powerful Azerbaijani state, desired by the great personality who saved the modern Azerbaijani state from a deep social, economic, and political crisis, the creator of the ideology of national statehood, the National Leader, Heydar Aliyev, was formed.

Azerbaijan, which has always demonstrated with its practical activities that it is a supporter of a just world order, acts as a supporter of transforming not only the South Caucasus region where it is located, but also Eurasia as a whole into a space of dialogue and cooperation. The projects we implement together with friendly and partner countries make significant contributions to regional and international security, create a favorable basis for constructive and promising cooperation between both the East and the West, and the North and the South. Having chaired the Non-Aligned Movement for four years, Azerbaijan has always adhered to the Bandung Principles and resolutely defended justice, international law, and the legitimate interests of member states.

Today, the formation of a new geopolitical order for the sake of a just world depends on the consistent and purposeful activities of states based on the principle of political responsibility. It is precisely on the basis of mutual respect that they can make a worthy contribution to this process by implementing effective cooperation based on trust, norms, and principles of international law, and responding to modern challenges.

2025 is solemnly celebrated in our Republic as the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty". Azerbaijan, guided by national interests, courageously continues its independent policy in the conditions of new realities, and, based on its constitution and sovereign rights, strives to become an active participant in the new world order for the sake of peace, cooperation, and sustainable development.

Expressing my confidence that this prestigious event, organized by the New Azerbaijan Party on the National Salvation Day of Azerbaijan, will be productive in terms of discussing current issues in the world and will give impetus to the development of multifaceted relations between our countries, I wish the conference success."
