Former Bulgarian football legend dies at 63

Former Bulgarian Football Union president and national team goalkeeper Borislav Mihaylov has passed away at the age of 63.

Axar.az reports, citing Local media, Mihaylov had been hospitalized in November 2025 following a stroke.

During his career, Mihaylov won the Bulgarian league title three times and lifted the national cup on three occasions. He represented Bulgaria from 1983 to 1996, making 102 appearances and becoming the second-most capped player in the country’s football history.

Mihaylov was the starting goalkeeper for Bulgaria during the 1994 World Cup, when the team reached the semifinals.
