Meta-owned Instagram announced on Tuesday via its website blog the introduction of digital collectibles to the platform. According to this communication, starting this week select creators and collectors will be able to share the non-fungible tokens (NFTs) that they created or purchased on Instagram.

Axar.az reports that Meta officials further added that by bringing NFTs to Instagram, new monetization opportunities for content creators will be created. It is also "critical" that underrepresented groups have access to emerging digital assets like NFTs.
