A hacker group affiliated with the Iranian government has targeted organizations operating in various countries of the Middle East, including Israel, in a new cyber campaign.

Axar.az reports that "Check Point" cyber security company released information about this.

It was reported that the hacker group known as "Muddy Water" attacked Azerbaijan, Portugal, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia and India in addition to Israel using a new private malware.

According to the results of research by "Check Point" experts, hackers connected to Iran have targeted government organizations, municipalities, media and travel agencies of the mentioned countries.

According to them, since the discovery of the latest attack campaign in February 2024, more than 50 phishing emails have been sent to hundreds of recipients.

At the same time, "Sequoia" cyber security company announced in a similar report that the attacks of "Muddy Water" group on various institutions have increased.
