Elon Musk’s The Boring Company has signed a preliminary agreement with Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) to build the Dubai Loop, a 17km high-speed underground transport network.

Axar.az reports that the project’s pilot phase will include 11 stations, transporting passengers in electric vehicles at speeds of up to 160km/h.

Announced during the World Governments Summit by UAE AI Minister Omar Al Olama, the Dubai Loop is modeled after the Vegas Loop, which launched in 2021. The goal is to alleviate congestion in key areas of Dubai, starting with a capacity of 20,000 passengers per hour, eventually exceeding 100,000 per hour.

The timeline for completion has not been disclosed.
