A 7.5-magnitude earthquake may occur in Azerbaijan

Celal Shangor, a Turkish academician, world-renowned geologist, and employee of the Institute of Eurasian Earth Sciences of Istanbul Technical University, who is visiting our country, spoke about the possibility of an earthquake in Azerbaijan.

Axar.az reports that a geologist who made a statement to journalists during a walk in the city said that Azerbaijan is located in a seismically active zone:

"Your landscape and weather are beautiful. But do not forget that this landscape, these mountains did not appear just like that. These mountains were formed due to earthquakes. These areas, starting from Spain and extending to China, are seismically active zones. Therefore, an earthquake can occur in Azerbaijan at any time. The magnitude of the earthquake is likely to be up to 7.5."
