Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a one-hour call to discuss the BRICS’ role in defending multilateralism, strengthening bilateral business ties, and coordinating within the G20.
Axar.az reports, citing Reuters, that Lula reiterated plans to address Trump’s proposed tariffs with BRICS members, while Xi called the bloc a key platform for Global South unity.
Both leaders emphasized expanding trade, especially in agriculture, with China remaining Brazil’s top soybean buyer and a growing importer of Brazilian coffee.
Xi also voiced support for resisting excessive tariffs and described Brazil–China relations as the strongest in history, pledging cooperation on global challenges, including the Ukraine conflict.
