A gas explosion at a residential building in Iran’s southwestern city of Ahvaz killed five residents on Wednesday and destroyed the entire structure.

Axar.az informs, citing IRNA, the acting head of Ahvaz Fire Department and Safety Services stated in an interview with IRNA on Wednesday that this morning, a severe explosion caused by a city gas leak in a four-unit residential building, which had a commercial unit (supermarket) on the ground floor, led to the deaths of four men and one woman, and injured two people who were transferred to medical centers.

He added that the explosion was so powerful that the entire four-unit building was completely destroyed and caused significant damage to surrounding homes and properties.
