Axar.az informs Qarabag head coach Gurban Gurbanov said at the post-match press conference following their UEFA Champions League Matchday 1 victory over Portugal’s Benfica.

The experienced coach shared his impressions after the historic away victory.

"I congratulate my players on this success. We played well and achieved a great victory. In fact, we could have lost today, because from the start, the advantage was in our opponent's favor. Turning the game around seemed like a difficult task. My players' self-confidence helped us achieve victory. The fact that we beat Benfica doesn't mean they're weak. They're very good on the ball. I said at the pre-match press conference that it wouldn't be easy for my players. Thank Allah, we won. I wish Benfica good luck in the upcoming matches," Gurbanov added.

The Benfica-Qarabag match ended with a 2-3 victory for the Aghdam-based team.
