From the first days of the 2021 election campaign, this has been the number one question for me: why are these mothers, mothers who care for us, coming to our election rallies - sometimes in their home clothes and clearly having made a last-minute decision?

Axar.az reports that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said these words in his speech at the congress of the Civil Contract Party today.

He said that their arrival was a sign, because they had something to say:

“From the first days of the campaign, I understood that my main task was to listen to them and translate it into practical policy. What I heard from them shocked me. They said only two things: first, they thanked me for signing the document of November 9, 2020, and ending the war.

This was a real shock for me. A significant part of the Armenian elite accused me of treason, and the mothers who breastfed them thanked me for the same thing. I asked these mothers: Why are you thanking me? Their answer was specific: for saving the lives of tens of thousands of soldiers and ending the war, saving Armenia. They told us: go towards peace, we need peace, but only peace. I understood that this is the voice of the people, including men.”
