A content creator was knocked to the ground during a staged fight against a six-foot-tall humanoid robot in a cage in San Francisco, USA.

Axar.az reports, citing the US media, that Frankie LaPenna faced EngineAI’s T800 robot during an event organized by Robot Entertainment Kombat (REK). The robot was remotely controlled by a human using a virtual reality headset and controllers, while onboard AI handled balance and posture.

LaPenna initially landed several strikes on the robot before the T800 delivered a powerful kick or strike that knocked him to the floor. The fight was stopped, with reports indicating that LaPenna suffered an injury to his hand or wrist.

EngineAI’s T800 stands about 1.73 to 1.83 meters tall and weighs between 75 and 85 kilograms. Some of its joints can generate up to about 450 newton-metres of torque.

REK described the event as the first widely reported fight between a human and a full-size humanoid robot.
