Kazakhstan considers nuclear plant on Caspian coast

The Caspian Sea coast in western Kazakhstan is being considered as a possible site for a nuclear power plant (NPP).

Axar.az informs this was announced to journalists by the chairman of the country’s Atomic Energy Agency, Almasadam Satkaliyev.

“Indeed, Western Kazakhstan, the Caspian coast, is being considered as a potential site for a nuclear plant with small- or medium-capacity reactors. Relevant studies will be conducted in the near future regarding the feasibility of building such a plant,” he said at a briefing.

Satkaliyev noted that the studies will include assessments to ensure compliance with all safety requirements.
