Russian occupying forces are using the " thousand-cuts" tactic in Dnipropetrovsk region.
Axar.az reports that said Ivan Tymochko, chairman of the Reserve Council of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Actually the situation is like this: given the landscape, geographic conditions and the Russians’ inability there to create force concentrations to suit their needs, we are also having difficulties — the enemy has resorted to a tactic called thousand-cuts. They try to infiltrate their units behind our forces. They do not confront us along a front line in open battle; they penetrate to the rear to consolidate there and, like a cancer metaphor, enter a healthy organ and expand. With small groups, without committing armoured units…”, he said.
Tymochko added that this approach places a heavy burden on Ukrainian logistics and complicates movement.
He said it is necessary to secure the rear areas, cut off enemy groups and localize and destroy them:
“All of this requires time and forces. Again, the Russians do not have enough troops there for a large-scale advance. We, however, lack sufficient forces to force them to withdraw. Therefore, in the current situation the fighting is proceeding in such localized ways.”
