The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, has cancelled a scheduled meeting with Finnish Foreign Minister and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Elina Valtonen.
Axar.az informs, citing Georgian media, this decision was announced in a statement issued by the Georgian government.
“Due to participation in an unlawful rally and the dissemination of false statements yesterday, the Prime Minister has decided to cancel the planned meeting with the Finnish Foreign Minister,” the government’s statement read.
Elina Valtonen attended the rally in front of the Georgian Parliament yesterday. She also shared a video message on social media from Rustaveli Avenue.
"Peaceful protestors have gathered in front of the Parliament Building in Tbilisi, Georgia, to voice their concern over the repressive direction of their country. They have every right to democracy, to freedom of expression and basic human rights. We are here to support them," Valtonen posted on X.
For reference, the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Finland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Elina Valtonen, arrived in Georgia from Armenia yesterday as part of her South Caucasus tour.
